Mayfair Swimming Pool
Mayfair Pool (Municipal Pool)
The Mayfair pool in one of Johannesburg’s oldest suburbs, had been originally built around 80 years ago. The pool was suffering from seismic movement with many dynamic cracks being exposed; this resulted in loss of water and de-bonding of existing tiles. It therefore became necessary to close down the facility to the public, depriving the local residence of their summer entertainment.
Robex S.A.(Pty)Ltd, where tasked with re-lining the Pool and returning it to service before the spring of 2011. We commenced work, removing old tiles and exposing any structural flaws, such as damaged expansion joints etc. We then reinstalled all the joints and repaired damaged concrete using our RX- F.S.L. Repair Mortar. All grout lines were removed using a scrapper coat of our RX- F.S.L. Repair Mortar, before spray applying our RX-Aqualiner system to the entire pool, including expansion joints.
This provided the client with an elastomeric liner that would facilitate the dynamic movement of the pool shell and one designed to provide years of service.
