These pictures clearly show the versatility of the RX – Toughseal Resin System, both in terms of colour design and functionality.

The Driefontein Gold Mine channel was fraught with problems, that included leaking joints; sub-soil movement, roof penetration through the concrete structure. This resulted in the mine loosing copious amounts of water through the concrete channel, which was costly coupled with the fact that the volume of leaking water was causing ‘sink holes’  and soil erosion in the surrounding areas. This was obviously a health and safety issue that could not be tolerated by the mine.

Solution:

The solution was to re-direct the water source in order to undertake the required remedial work. The process as follows:

• The entire surface was water blasted, then mechanically ground to remove contaminants.
• All expansion joints were cleaned out and the damaged areas repaired.
• All latent cracks in the concrete structure were repaired using our fast setting MMA Concrete Repair Kits.
• The expansion joint sealant was re-installed and the joint overlapped using our RX – Protadeck System.
• A 1.5mm layer of our RX – Aqualiner was applied to the entire area and due to the rapid curing of the system, the channel was returned to service with immediate effect.

The “Main Kitchen” was due to be upgraded, this necessitated the area being closed down in order to install new kitchen equipment. The client considered re-tiling, however this would involve an additional 2 week closure which simply was not feasible.

The answer was to install the “Robex Foodsafe System” over the existing tiles, reducing the shutdown time by around 10 days. The result was a seamless, hard wearing, watertight floor that is easily cleaned and ideally suited to the project at hand.

The experience of any venue is affected by the surroundings and non-less than the surface walked upon. Surface coatings enhance the appearance of a dull and dreary concrete floor. The kitchen floor could not be closed for any lengthy period. Operating 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and 52 weeks of the year the kitchen had become heavily soiled and damaged. A fast-track solution needed to be found that would provide a long term solution with the minimum of disruption.

The Robex Foodsafe System is easily applied and can be put into service within one hour from completion. Up to 200m² can be applied in less than 10 hours and within one hour the floor can be put back into service.

This kitchen was only out of service for 48 hours and that included completely removing the existing floor surfacing, preparing the surface properly and applying the Robex Foodsafe System.

Minimum disruption and maximum performance.

The existing joint sealing system had deteriorated. De-bonding from the surface caused leaks into the car park and bulging from the joint caused a trip hazard.

This was a newly built “Koi Pond” which needed a suitable liner, one that was neither rigid, due to excessive ground movement, nor toxic, due to the valuable fish who’s new home it would be.
