FAQ’s

What kind of gold should I buy when I’m ready to invest in Gold?

What you buy depends upon your goals. If your goal is to invest in precious metals directly for all the benefits listed above, then bullion gold will serve your purpose. Bullion refers to precious metals in bulk form which are regularly traded on community markets. The value of bullion is determined by the value of its precious metal content, which is defined by its purity and mass. It can never have a numismatic value and the price is not determined by emotion. The most popular example of bullion gold is he Krugerrand.

What makes the Krugerrand so attractive?

South Africa is the largest producer of gold in the world. The South African government launched the Krugerrand in 1967 as a vehicle for private  ownership of gold and through a government owned mint, guaranteed is weight and purity.

Despite the coins legal tender status, economic sanctions against South African for apartheid made the Krugerrand an illegal import in many Western countries. These sanctions ended when South Africa abandoned apartheid in 1994.

By 1980 the Krugerrand accounted for 90% of the global gold coin market. That year South Africa introduced three smaller coins with half ounce, quarter ounce, and tenth ounce of 22ct gold. Through 2008, Krugerrand coins containing 46 million ounces of gold have been sold.

How do I sell my Krugerrands

First, you have to determine the current value of your Krugerrands. Contact us to determine the value of your krugerrands.

Why is it always preferable to keep my Krugerrands in my own safe custody?

Many organizations sell Krugerrands and offer free safe custody with a guaranteed buy back. This may sound like a good deal but by the time you want to sell your Krugerrands, you are not being offered the best rates available in the market. Should you then want to take delivery of your Krugerrands, the cost of shipping and transport makes it uneconomical to do.
