Continuing Education at Home
Education is the vital process that takes a lifetime of learning in order to understand how systems operate. Learning entails the knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits of a certain individual or faculty. There are various modes to education, namely storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research.
The common method of learning is usually sending a child to school where a teacher educates your child. However, for many decades educators have been stressed about the importance of continuing education at home, as we emphasize this because we have seen magnificent improvements in the developments of children who receive additional education at home. Education can occur in a formal or casual setting and any experience that formatively affects the way one thinks, feels, or acts might be viewed as education.
Whether it is after school or on weekends, spending time teaching your child or children will most definitely improve their performance in school. Research shows that the parental impact on exams is five times greater than any other component, therefore we as parents need to continue with education at home to maximise their academic performance.
Additional activities to do at home:
- Read storybooks – this helps them to identify both the meaning and the spelling of words, which of course helps their vocabulary and spelling all at once.
- Play sports- opening up your child’s mind to vast activities such as soccer, swimming, and netball which all helps with the circulation of blood and the transportation of oxygen to their brains. Playing sports also helps you build your child’s individual self.
- Exercise- the sports that you engage in can be a way of exercising. Remember that fitness is extremely important for developing minds and bodies.
- Chores- as much as children hate chores, they actually help them to learn responsibility. Working in the garden teaches patience, care and hard work. Chores can give them an advantage in the classroom, with obedience, leadership, and even confidence.
- Helping out with projects- this does not mean that you complete the entire project for them but you can help to explain what is required of them. Brainstorming and discussions also help in this case.
- Trips- take your children to museums and educational places that will broaden their knowledge and perspective in life.
Learning does not have to be a drag, look for exciting things to do and soon you will be raising geniuses! Continuing education at home can be both fun and educating for you and your family.
