Fiberglass Pool Advice

Overall, fiberglass pools are known for being incredibly resilient and relatively low maintenance. However, you’ll still want to clean and maintain your fiberglass pool from time to time to ensure that you and your family can enjoy it for years to come.

First, the most important thing to remember is that you should never drain your fiberglass pool because these pools are designed to always be holding water. If, for some reason, you do decide to drain your fiberglass pool, you can risk severe structure problems such as cracking and other damage. In some cases, fiberglass pools have even risen from the ground and been completely destroyed by having the water drained from them. However, if you need to switch out the water in your fiberglass pool, simply drain a quarter of the pool’s water at a time and replace it with fresh water. You can continue this process until you are satisfied with the new water.

When cleaning the walls of your pool, you should be careful not to use any abrasive materials or cleaners. Generally, a degreaser and cleaning pad should suffice. Or, you can buff and wax certain areas of the fiberglass pool that have been exposed to sunlight to restore their shine and character. As always, you may want to invest in a high-quality automatic pool cleaner as well or you could consider hiring a local pool cleaning company to regularly clean your pool. However, if you do decide to go with a pool cleaning company, you should take some time to compare different companies and determine which company is right for you. Also, by agreeing to go with a pool company for certain amount of time, you may be able to secure some cost savings as well.
