After much deliberation with being asked regularly How much do you charge per meter for electric fencing?, it was discussed at a meeting and after looking at all the variables in detail, we came up with some plan to assist in allowing the prospective customer to get a feel for how much their quote would be more or less. The ELECTRIC FENCE CALCULATER below is for the purpose of residential wall top electric fencing only-not for free standing fencing.
From the onset it must be clearly understood that there is a number of critical factors which can adversely affect the costing, factors that you as the homeowner / property owner might not be aware of. One important factor is is the top of your wall level?, level with steps?, are there pillars sticking out above and or to the front of the wall etc.
Should power be required on a fence after a sliding gate, a High Tension cable must be fitted in conduit in a trench below the sliding gate for continuity of power supply to all the fences. For every step in the wall, an extra bracket will be required with a support stay etc. For every corner an extra bracket with supporting stay is required. Brackets must be placed not more than 3m apart.
The quotation is based on using:
- Black / white powder coated 6 wire straight / angled brackets (every 3m)
- Black / white powder coated stays(for support of brackets at each beginning and end bracket for tensioning plus every 50m)
- Solid stainless steel 1.2mm 316 marine grade wire (Perimeter length x 6)
- SGC07 in line Sliding gate contact (if required)
- DRUID 15 LCD 5 Joule energiser
- 15W Siren
- Strobe light plus mounting brackets
These are the basic hardware, other than ferrules for joining wires, warning signs, tensioners, earth spikes etc. which will not have too big an effect on the outcome of the quote. The prices below reflect the retail prices excluding vat from the August 2012 price list. Please note that the prices can change prior to any notice due to price list fluctuations. An additional 50% must be added to the quote to cover labour.
