Insulators:

All our UV stabilised plastic insulators (for residential use) are manufactured of only virgin materials.

Fire proof porcelain insulators are used for agricultural electric fences where veld fires are prevalent. Square tubing brackets are fitted with the uniquely designed Nemtek QF insulator which minimises arcing due to the longer tracking distance allowing a larger gap between the bracket and the Live wires.

Furthermore it is clipped into position on the bracket by means of a robust plastic clip instead of a steel bolt and nut, which further eliminates the chance of arcing to the bracket. Available in black and white.

Wire Tensioning Systems:

All the strands of wires need to be tensioned correctly in order for the fence to operate correctly. The wires must be fairly tight, yet have enough play (stretch) to touch one another should an intruder apply pressure to it. The alarm will be activated should 2 adjacent wires make contact.

In order to prevent galvanic reaction between dissimilar metals, thereby eliminating rust, nylon tensioners (as pictured above) are used with compression spring limiters for stainless steel wiring and galvanised tensioners are used for galvanised wiring.

Energizers:

ADVANCED ELECTRIC FENCING uses only state of the art technically advanced Nemtek energizers. A wide variety of energizers are available for different applications, ranging from 3 Joule output to just under 14 Joules of shocking power! The output voltage on the electric fence can range from 7400 volt up to over 9 600 volts!

All Nemtek energizers are:

  • Locally manufactured – parts readily available –minimum downtime for repairs.
  • Robust and proven to be very reliable.
  • Covered by a 2 year warranty on electronics.
  • Battery backed up allowing 6 – 24 hours protection (depending on type of energizer) following a power failure.

DRUID 13 LCD and DRUID 15 LCD

These energizers with an output of 3 Joules and 4.6 Joules respectively, have become the preferred energizer for residential installations as it boasts:

A unique LCD display showing information which is quick and easy to read. The background colours on the LCD display, give a quick glance indication of the energizer status without the user having to approach the unit in order to read the display. For example, green indicates all is fine, orange indicates that attention is required and red indicates an alarm condition. The coloured lights are visible from a distance and are quick to spot.

  • Pioneered and patented Adaptive Power Technology (APT). These energizers offers a new and unique method in detecting how much power an electric fence can take and handle before it will start arcing and waste electricity. It will allow the fence to operate at a higher voltage and work more efficiently by actively analysing the fence and adapting the transfer of power as needed to ensure maximum performance while minimising arcing. The APT energizer is the most efficient and economical energizer available as it ensures that the fence only receives the amount of power it can manage without power losses along the fence.
  • Acceptance of up to two keypads to remotely control the energizer.
  • A high voltage monitor which will sound an alarm when the LIVE wires are tampered with.
  • An earth wire monitor which will sound an alarm when the EARTH wires are tampered with.
  • Easy to use tag switch for controlling the unit if the keypad option is not used.
  • Connectability to an armed response radio or GSM module.
  • A gate monitor input which monitors the position of the gate to indicate if the gate is open.
  • A built-in lightning and power surge suppression to reduce the possibility of damages due to power surges.
  • An internal battery back-up system in case of a power failure.
  • Intelligent power saving to extend the battery life and save energy.
  • Relay outputs, which can be used to control lights. It can also have a timer mode to activate and deactivate these functions.

WIZORD 2

This 2 Joule energizer is the least expensive energizer.

WIZORD 4

This 4 Joule energizer cost slightly more than a Druid 13 LCD. The Wizord 2 and Wizord 4 energizers do not have an LCD display neither do they have Adaptive Power Technology (APT).

DRUID 18 LCD and DRUID 24 LCD

These energizers are utilised for larger installations with longer electric fences.

DRUID 114 LCD

This revolutionary designed energizer has been specifically designed for extra-long fences ie. Game fencing. The entire fence is wired in parallel (unlike other fences) and still offers complete fence monitoring.

MERLIN STEALTH MASTER and MERLIN STEALTH DUAL ZONE

Together, these energizers can be networked to form a 4 zone, 6 zone or up to 64 zones if required for big areas where the perimeter fence becomes uncontrollably long ie. complexes, factories etc.

Earth Spikes:

Without earth spikes, the electric fence will not be able to fulfill its function, as it plays an extremely critical part in completing the circuit in order to deliver a shocking pulse to the intruder.

 NEW EF WEBSITE10

ADVANCED ELECTRIC FENCING uses a minimum of 4-5 copper coated 1.2m long earth spikes per average residential installation. Three is required for the energizer, one separately for the 2 lightning diverters as per SANS 10222-3:2012 and one earth spike every 30m along the electric fence.

Should an earth resistance test dictate that extra earthing is required, more and longer earth spikes are used.

Lightning Diverters:

Even though the Cape do not experience as much lightning storms as Gauteng, it is now a requirement to have lightning protection installed with an electric fence system.

Any electric fence, especially a long electric fence acts like a long aerial which can attract the discharging of a charged cloud/s.

Should lightning strike the electric fence, it will run through the High Tension (H.T.) wires towards the energizer in search of an earth. Lightning or any exceptionally high voltage, has the tendency to ‘jump a gap’ and this is what will happen when it reaches the lightning diverter. It will jump the gap inside the lightning diverter and safely discharge via the lightning diverter dedicated earth spike to the ground/earth.

Two lightning diverters are installed. One for the H.T. to the electric fence and one for the H.T. return from the electric fence.

Siren / Strobe Light:

Audible alarm. The sound of the alarm should already act as a deterrent and make the intruder want to turn in his tracks as the alarm will alert the neighbors of a possible intrusion.

The Strobe Light acts as a visual indicator to draw attention to your property, ie. Armed Response will easily be able to identify your property even AFTER the alarm has stopped. The flashing light will also be an indication to alert you when returning to your premises.

Warning Signs:
Yellow UV protected 100 x 200mm mandatory signs to be fitted every 10m on an electric fence, any change in direction and all gates and access points indicating the danger of the electrified fence as per the regulations.
NEW EF WEBSITE14

Gate Contacts:
Heavy duty sliding gate contacts with aluminium bracket, stainless steel and brass contacts to allow power to sliding gate electric fencing.
The use of chains to supply a sliding gate electric fence is not allowed as it can cause arcing, which creates pitting of the fence wire and can lead to radio interference.
NEW EF WEBSITE15

Key Pad:
The keypad allows the user and the installer to program and control different functions associated with the energizer from a remote location.
This allows the energizer to be installed near the fence and the keypad to be located where it is most convenient for the user. Up to 2 keypads can be used per energizer.
NEW EF WEBSITE16

Fence Light:
Connected between any Live and Earth fence wire to give an indication that the system is in operation by flashing with each pulse.
The red flashing LED’s are more noticeable at night or in dark conditions.
NEW EF WEBSITE17

RemoteControl:

To remotely switch the energizer On or OFF only from a remote location as with the keypad.

Armed Response Relay:

A relay is fitted adjacent or kept inside the energizer for the Armed Response Company to connect up. Should the energizer alarm, the signal will go through to the Armed Response Control Room.

Electric Fence:

A large variety of solid and stranded (braided) fence wires are available to address the different environmental, mechanical strength and electrical resistance requirements.

NEW EF WEBSITE18

ADVANCED ELECTRIC FENCING generally uses solid stainless steel 1.2mm 316 Marine Grade fence wire for residential and commercial installations.

For freestanding fencing, where a high strength mechanical fence such as game and animal control fencing applications are needed, we use 2.24mm Galvanised wire. It also offers a low electrical resistance for longer fence lines, has a long lifespan and is hard to cut.

Fence Types:

RESIDENTIAL

NEW EF WEBSITE19 Electric fencing for residential properties can range from
your average single energizer with average amount of
fencing to multiple energizers with zones to distinguish
between different areas of electric fencing ie. residential
complexes, retirement villages etc.

INDUSTRIAL and COMMERCIAL

NEW EF WEBSITE20 Full-height fencing, ‘piggy back’ fencing added onto existing
fencing and freestanding fencing where no fencing exists
are used with multiple fence zones in many instances.
All entrances to the property are controlled by either a lock
or remote control to gain access.

AGRICULTURAL

NEW EF WEBSITE21 Agricultural fences are mainly used for game and
animal control and can be divided into different categories:
(i) PERMANENT electric fence.
(ii) PORTABLE electric fence.
(iii) SOLAR POWERED electric fence.
(iv) OFFSET BRACKET electric fence.

NEW EF WEBSITE22

MONITORING AND SECURITY FEATURE

Traditionally electric fence energizers for animal farming control
did not have a fence monitor feature to detect a break in the electric fence.

Nowadays the detecting feature has become an integral part of game and
animal control. The condition of the fence can now be monitored by the
user at the energizer without having to do regular patrol of the fence,
thereby saving time and money.

ADVANCED ELECTRIC FENCING utilises Nemtek electric fence
energizers which also offers security features to assist in the
battle against POACHING of game, which has become an
additional problem for game reserves and game farms.

The game ranger or farmer will be informed by the alarm
of a break or a short circuit on the fence, which will require
his attention. He can then respond timeously and thereby
minimize any damage to his livestock or game.

HOW AN ELECTRIC FENCE BARRIER WORKS ON ANIMALS

An electric pulse travels from the energizer through the LIVE wires. This pulse, in the form of a current then flows through the animal at its contact point with the fence.

To complete the circuit, the current then flows into the ground and will seek a return path to the energizer via the EARTH spikes. It can now be seen how important it is to have sufficient earthing of the electric fence.

HOW THE SHOCK EFFECTS THE ANIMAL

Most animals will remember the shock of an electrical fence and this creates a psychological barrier for the animal, which deters the animal from putting further pressure on the fence line.

The shock will keep the animals away from the fence thus reducing the damage to the fence. The animals first encounter with the electric fence must be memorable in order to gain respect for the barriers set by the fence.

The shock received by the animal is short lived and does not physically damage or harm the animal, unlike barbed wire which can cause severe cuts and permanent damage.

In cases where livestock are forced through an electric fence due to wild animals and veld fires, the risk of injury is considerably lower than in the case of barbed wire fences.

Wild animals and vermin movement can be controlled by means of an electric fence, by either keeping them outside or inside a controlled area thereby separating them from another group of animals.

PERMANENT AGRICULTURAL ELECTRIC FENCE

A permanent electric fence for livestock or game animals need to be more robust, require higher tensile strengths, have a longer lifespan and the equipment and insulators used, must be more durable.

There is a likelihood that animals could damage the fence especially in the dark as they tend to run into the electric fence before seeing it. For long fences, stretching over vast areas, it must be divided into different zones.

In order to combat the challenge of poachers breaching long electric fences, ADVANCED ELECTRIC FENCING divides the fence into smaller sections and uses extra energizers along the fence in order to reduce the alarm zone lengths.

This ensures that any break or breach of the fence security can be addressed in a quick manner with minimal harm to the animal or the fence. This method has proved itself with the fight against poachers and unwanted intruders.

The cost of many long game fences can be prohibitive and permanent electric fencing is one of the most cost effective solutions plus you get the added advantage accompanied by the electric fence.
A permanent electric fence must give minimum false alarms as it may cover a great area.

NEW EF WEBSITE23

Agricultural electric fence must be maintained at optimum voltage to ensure the effectiveness of the fence. Factors such as poor or damaged insulators after a rain storm, or salt build up on insulators (near the coast) prevent the fence from supporting a high voltage.

A conventional energizer will push all available energy through the arcing that may occur across the insulator affecting the energy, thus reducing the electric fences effectiveness.

ADVANCED ELECTRIC FENCING uses exclusively the Nemtek range of energizers which incorporates an advanced and patented ADAPTIVE POWER TECHNOLOGY (APT). See APT description under ‘energizers’. The APT energizer is the most efficient and economical energizer available as it ensures that the fence only receives the amount of power it can manage without power losses along the fence.

PORTABLE AGRICULTURAL ELECTRIC FENCE

Portable electric fences are handy as it can be moved as required creating a temporary paddock or strip grazing areas. As these areas are normally remote with no available electricity, the use of a Solar Panel/s and a battery makes it convenient for moving around.

Portable electric fences can also be used to protect flower beds and refuse areas from pets and feral animals. See ‘Pet Friendly Fences’.

SOLAR POWERED AGRICULTURAL ELECTRIC FENCE

NEW EF WEBSITE24

Solar panels, together with a LCD solar controller (regulator) and a deep cycle lead acid 12v battery offer a solution to powering electric fences in remote areas OR where AC power supply is unreliable.

It is cost effective and ensures uninterrupted power supply.

It is also the ideal power supply for ‘Pet Friendly Fences’.

OFF-SET BRACKET AGRICULTURAL ELECTRIC FENCE

NEW EF WEBSITE25

Offset brackets utilize the strength and rigidity of an existing fence by simply twisting it onto the fence thereby reducing costs of the electric fence system.

They are generally used for animal control and are available in 4mm galvanized high tensile steel. Fireproof porcelain insulators are used which can withstand high temperatures for a prolonged period of time.

PET FRIENDLY ELECTRIC FENCE
