• Prepare yourself and obtain all the information about your diamond that may affect the value of your diamond. Diamonds are valued according to the 4 C’s; Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat. Diamond grading laboratories such as G.I.A, E.G.L, A.G.S, I.G.I ect. can supply you with a certification and an unbiased opinion on each of these aspects and highlight other attributes that could affect the value of the diamond.
• Consider all your selling options. Select dealers in the industry with experience and good references, but most importantly, someone you can trust with ethical business practices.
• It is not advised to mail your diamond to a particular dealer or to allow a dealer to send your diamond away for certification. Make an appointment and let the dealer inspect and evaluated your diamond in your presence.
