Marmel Labels is based in Crown Extension 6, Johannesburg. The company has offices and a workshop where labels are designed, plates made in-house, labels printed and rewound. The company has undergone a lot of growth in the last fifteen years. The biggest challenge was the relocation to larger premises in 2002. The move was conducted over four days (over a weekend), minimising the loss of production time. Marmel is constantly investing in new equipment, machinery and technologies to broaden product range and to improve both efficiency and quality.

Marmel installed a printing machine, Aquaflex ELS – eight colours in 2007 as well as the Rotoflex rewinder and die cutter. In 2008, Marmel Labels invested on the ESKO CDI 2530, a digital imager, and the Nyloflex Combi F1 Super washout unit. We have an in house repro department to assist clients create their own label design. This allows us to provide faster service and deliver a high quality product efficiently.

Marmel Labels manufacturers all types of self adhesive labels, including A4 Laser Sheets, Pre-printed barcode labels, Thermal and Scale labels, Sequentially numbered labels, Laminated and UV varnished, Cold Foiling, Die cut labels of various shapes and sizes. The product range also includes Polypropylene labels, Gloss Paper, Tags, Deep Freeze labels and Computer labels. We also supply Thermal Transfer Ribbon for printers.

Marmel Labels was awarded an “Outstanding Service Award” in 1999 by Robertson’s Food Alrode, at their Supplier of the Year Awards. This was in recognition of the exceptional quality service Robertson’s Food Alrode received from Marmel Labels.

Corporate Social Investment

Marmel Labels strongly believes that there is more to the business than being profitable, and also focus on giving back to the community.

Our social involvement is with SBSM School Fordsburg, TUPS Cultural Committee Fordsburg, TUPS Bhagini Samaj, ATMADAAN, and Shree Rameshwar Mahadev Bhajan Mandal. We assist them with their fundraising events such as dinners, golf day projects, feeding schemes, winter warmth drive, and regular hamper distribution and are involved with the compilation of the TUPS annual brochure. Marmel Labels provides assistance in the form of time offered, finances and the use of the company premises.

Marmel Labels has always taken keen interest in printing Barcode labels correctly. We attended seminars and workshops to improve on quality. After attending workshops and learning about specifications of the barcodes, we always advise our customers of specifications. The staff are always guided and informed of the requirements and specifications of GS1. Labels were taken to GS1 SA, Randburg; to be verified until we invested in a GS1 approved Verifier. GS1 SA awarded Marmel Labels the Alliance Partner Programme (“APP”) Accreditation after both Narendra and Purdy passed the test and the company was audited.
